Miracle_mile10-03-08.gifOn Saturday, September 27 2,485 runners, a 26% increase over last year, along with hundreds of spectators filled the streets of the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Campus for the 10th annual Miracle Miles 15K, 5K and Kids’ Fun Run presented by Chick-fil-A.Miracle Miles benefits the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. Besides increased runners, lots of additional funds were raised. All 30 Central Florida Chick-fil-A stores sold point of purchase donation cards, raising almost $16,000 for the tiny babies of the NICU. Additionally, $3,000 in donations were turned in the day of the event, showing that non-runners can get involved to show support as well.

There were several on-site activities for participants and spectators to enjoy. Chick-fil-A President and COO, Dan Cathy kicked off the Opening Ceremonies by playing his trumpet. Then, as the runners took off the Chick-fil-A cows cheered them on. For the ninth time, Michelle Kendall-Krueger won the woman’s 15K. Last year Michelle ran the 5K because she was expecting.

There was plenty to do throughout the whole morning. Chick-fil-A served chicken sandwiches. Pediatrix Medical Group kept little hands busy with a Kiddy Dough station. SeaWorld provided goodies for the Kid’s Fun Run while UBS Financial Services gave out sno cones and balloon art. Enjoy Your Face turned young ones into butterflies, cows and all kinds of creatures. And Panda Express, Rainforest Café and Collins Catering served an abundance of food for all.
